Take–Home Teeth Whitening
You can whiten your teeth in the comfort of your own home. We scan your mouth and make a customised tray (a thinner and smaller version of a mouth guard). In the customised tray a small drop of the whitening gel is placed to keep the material confined to your teeth.
A whitening solution, mostly consisting of hydrogen peroxide, is provided. This method involves wearing the tray for 40 minutes per day normally at night after dinner for 2 to 3 weeks. We’ll advise you on all the details so that you know what to expect and how to get started.

In-Chair Whitening
If you’d like to have your whitening performed in the span of a single appointment, an in-chair visit will get you the results you need in one hour.
A high-concentration hydrogen peroxide gel is applied to the teeth while the gums and lips are safely protected. You’ll instantly see an incredible difference and leave our clinic feeling a boost in your self-esteem.
We normally recommend you continue using a take home whitening kit to continue seeing improvements to the colour of your teeth.

Frequently Asked Questions
Are there any potential side effects of teeth whitening?
The most common side effect is sensitivity, and this may occur while you are wearing the trays and also after you’re finished for a few days later. In most cases this is easily managed by using a sensitive toothpaste for a period of two weeks before starting and also continuing using it throughout the process. On rare occasions some gum irritation may occur but this is transient and will disappear.
How long will whitening last?
Most people like to touch up their whitening every 2 to 3 years by wearing their trays for 3-4 days using the same protocol as when first worn. However, you can maintain the result for longer if you avoid habits such as excessive smoking and drinking red wine, coffee and tea. These can make your teeth stain more quickly.
How much whiter will my teeth be?
Take home kits generally lighten your teeth by 1-2 shades; the exact result will depend on your natural tooth colour as grey coloured teeth don’t whiten well.
What are the side effects?
Tooth sensitivity as the bleaching agents can penetrate the dentin layer of your teeth and can cause temporary sensitivity that lasts several days.
The bleaching agents can irritate your gums, causing redness, swelling, and soreness if the tray is worn too long or if the tray is poorly fitting
Which is better take-home or in-chair whitening?
Depends on what suits the individual –
- Take-home – is a kit with 4 syringes of whitening gel and trays, so you get more for less cost. Also you can use it as often as you want, to get to the shade of whiteness that suits you.
- In-chair – is one treatment in chair with one shade of whiteness to be achieved and costs more.
